Southern Levantine EBA Red Polished Ware
Israel/all
c. 3500-2500 BCE
Early Bronze Age
General Information
Southern Levantine EBA Red Polished ware pertains to mostly small vessels, such as bowls and juglets, and also small jugs, with an exterior coated in a thick red paint that has been polished or burnished to a high sheen. The color tends to be medium red, and is applied in an even, thick layer.
This ware can be distinguished from Megiddo EBA Red Wash ware or Megiddo EBA Red Painted Ware by its consistently shiny surface, which indicates an additional effort by the potter.
