General Information
This ware group represents storage vessels of all sizes, from middling (.5 m high) to exceptionally large (2 m) in height. There are two main shape groups: short necked vessels with piriform to ovoid bodies, thought to be for easy access and short term storage; and longer, narrow necks that restrict access and are thought be used for longer term storage. The surface may be plain, but sometimes carry simple decoration like narrow parallel or wavy incised lines, or raised bands. Petrographic analyses have shown that these were made in multiple localities.
Surfaces are always slipped, and often fired lighter than the fabric color.
