3200-c. 550 BCE
Early Bronze Age, Middle Bronze Age, Late Bronze Age, Iron Age
One rare and little-known example of several intact MTCs, possibly from a shipwreck, was found in 1976 in the waters off Dor (Kingsley and Raveh 1996: 57, pls. 38, 51: PW1, Dor wreck M). It was estimated that this cargo included approximately 30 amphorae, but aside from the three jars extracted—now exhibited at the Glass House Museum in Kibbutz Nahsholim—the rest were lost at sea and never recovered (Avner Raban, personal communication, 2003; Fig. 4). Based on typology, these jars date to Iron Age 1b – Iron Age 2a, and petrographic analysis suggests an Akko Bay origin, possibly Akko itself
