Description

Clay matrix is fine and extremely homogeneous, constituting more than 95% of the sample. Clay is brown and orange under both XPL and PPL. Inclusions are poorly sorted and comprise less than 5% of the total sample. Small amounts of biotite measuring .02 mm to .05 mm are interspaced throughout and equant sub-rounded in shape. There are similar slight amounts of small lithic fragments in the form of siltstones, ranging .05 mm to .1 mm and equant sub-rounded. Feldspars are also present in the matrix in an equally small amount, measuring from .05 mm to .1 mm. Voids comprise around 1-2% of the matrix.
