Israel/Northern Coastal Plain
Achaemenid Persian
Household/Utility
This fabric is tan-orange in PPL and highly calcareous from the high concentration of foraminifera and reaction rims (indicative of a high firing temperature), and some calcareous and quartz silt. Ca. 75% of the specimen is clay matrix, and the remaining c:f:v ca. 10:5:10. Non-plastic inclusions: rounded decomposed calcareous rock is dominant, as are ferruginous clusters of foraminifera, sometimes in-filled with iron. The channel-shaped voids have a parallel preferred orientation.
