Israel/Central Coastal Plain
Iron Age I
—
Marl with coastal quartz and microfossils.
The clay is carbonatic with some eroded foraminifera (1-2%), tan in PPL, poorly sorted opaque minerals (~3% up to 40ɥm). Quartz in the silt is almost absent (less than 1%). The silt contains some heavy minerals such as feldspar, pyroxene, Zircon, epidote and hornblende. The inclusions consist mainly of fine well sorted angular quartz sand, same size rounded lime stone and a few heavy minerals. Occasional traces of glauconite concentration are also found.
