Israel/Northern Coastal Plain

Household/Utility
The matrix is a ferruginous, slightly calcareous clay, containing silt-size quartz. The dominant temper is quartz sand, with wellrounded to sub-angular grains, partially oriented parallel to the surface of the vessel. Plagioclase, feldspar, hornblende and chert are accessory components
present in the temper; occasionally coarse carbonate occurs. Temper constitutes 5–15% of the total volume of the sherd. The firing temperature to 750–800°C was estimated according to remaining amounts of carbonate component, color of the sample and stage of vitrification (i.e., the optical activity of the clay).
