Matrix is ferruginous, slightly calcareous clay, containing silt-size quartz. The dominant temper is quartz sand, with well-rounded to sub-angular grains, partially oriented parallel to the surface of the vessel. Plagioclase, feldspar, hornblende and chert are accessory components present in the temper; occasionally coarse carbonate occurs. Temper constitutes 5–15% of the total volume of the sherd. The firing temperature estimated 750–800C. The groundmass containes vitrified spots. This effect can be due to the presence of sea-salts in the paste as the result of seawater or brackish water from wells close to the seashore being used for pottery production
