General Information
Naqada II-III Marl wares include various styles of store jars, including cylindrical jars. Several jar forms in Naqada marl wares have been found in EB Ib levels at sites in the southern Levant: Tel Halif and 'En Besor, as well as in North Sinai (survey). In Egypt they are known from Minshat and Abu Omar, both in Lower Egypt.
The clay matrix included decomposed carbonate fragments, iron-filled foraminifera, silt-sized quartz, and mica laths. Temper included quartz, decomposed limestone, and very small mud balls. Vessels were fully fired.
