General Information

The Red Polished Ware Family is a large and diverse group characterized by a red polished slip that may be red, brown, purple, tan, gray, and black depending on firing and raw material.  The surfaces may be plain, mottled, and/or have  incised or applied decoration.

The canonical description was drawn from the work of Stewart and Astrom.
