Southern Levantine Hellenistic-Roman Loess Cooking Ware
Israel/Central Coastal Plain, Israel/Carmel coastal plain
—
Hellenistic, Roman
General Information
Potters working along the Levantine coast south of the Carmel mountains would use local loess clays to make cooking vessels. In Persian and Hellenistic times the clay was well levigated and fine, resulting in a cooking ware that is a denser, cleaner version of Southern Levantine Iron Age Cooking Pot Fabric.
