Description
Bassit Imperial amphorae fabric (Hayes 1991, Fig 69, 12; cf. Reynolds 1999 figs 58-60, Cat 150-2.) This is a red oxidized fabric. It is hard with a fine fracture and sandy feel. It has common poorly sorted angular black sand 0.2-1mm; common lime at 0.1-2mm moderate white quartz and occasional red stone at 1mm.
