General Information
Alexandrian Hellenistic 1, one of two fine wares produced in the city in the Hellenistic period, was made using calcaerous marl clay. The texture is gritty, with some lime inclusions. The clay is fired to a pale yellow to pale orange/pink color, and vessels are often semi-slipped in a thin, matte brownish-red.
