Matrix: Brown to reddish-brown clayey matrix, optically active (weak?), moderately to poorly sorted, with 1-3% coarse clay/fine silty calcareous (high birefringence) and translucent brown grains (biotite?); foraminifera absent; some clay nodules observed


Non-plastic inclusions:




  • Dolomite – 3% fine sand-sized, 5-7% v. fine sand to coarse silt-sized, subangular to angular, some weathered, some with distinct rhombohedral crystals; high birefringence, with granular/agglomerated texture, medium/low relief; some grains showing preferred orientation
