Lebanon/Northern Coast
Early Bronze Age III
Transport/Storage
All samples of this fabric are composed of a clay-rich groundmass, rich in microcrystalline calcite, which in most cases has an optically active crystallic b-fabric. Less commonly, a highly sintered optically inactive fabric is noted, indicating a relatively high firing temperature. Of Fabric 2 (Badreshany et al 2019), six sub-fabrics (A–F) could be differentiated by an increasing degree of coarseness, and variations in quartz and calcareous minerals. Sub-fabric 2B is unique because it exhibits more fossiliferous limestones than any other sub-fabric in Fabric 2 (Badreshany et al 2019).
