Slightly ferruginous matrix with abundant shale inclusions, moderate optical activity. Densely packed with variegated shale fragments, sporadic quartz (can be well-rounded) and large gypsum fragments. Accessories are K-feldspar, plagioclase, volcanic rock fragments and sandstone. The character of the clay paste corresponds to an origin from the oases of the Western desert of Egypt. Gypsum is particularly known from the area around Dakhla oasis.
