Kaolinitic clay matrix, slightly ferruginous, optically active clay matrix. 19% inclusions, low porosity. Several rounded to well-rounded quatz grains ("desert sand"), K-feldspars and sporadic quartzite. As accessories clinopyroxene, hornblende, chert and plagioclase are common. Syptomatic for this thin-section is the presence of a fragment of granite, testifying to an association to granitic rocks as could be supposed for kaolinitic clays in the Aswan region. However, the presence of minor amounts of Nile sediments in the clay is evident. An association with the Aswan region is plausible.
