General Information
Jerash Light Grey Coarse Handmade Ware was used almost exclusively to produce basins of different sizes. Very often the basins are decorated with wavy combed incised lines or rouletted or fingerprint decoration. This ware seems to start in the late Byzantine period and increased substantially during the 7th-8th century.
The colour ranges from light grey to grey and even dark grey in some specimen (Munsell: 5YR 6/1; 5/1, 4/1). The inclusions are tiny, very few, grits; tiny, very few, voids and lime.
