General Information
Oasis Red Slip ware is one of many small-scale productions that can be generally grouped as Late Egyptian Sigillata. All are Egyptian versions of Late Roman red slip wares, with the forms closely derived from North African/Tunisian red slipped wares, with their distinctive thick, polished red slip. The best known ware in this group is Egyptian Red Slip A (ERSA) which was manufactured in Aswan.
The fabric is of fine/medium, sandy texture and is dense. The color is pale red to orange with small inclusions of shale.
