Roman Delta Nile Silt is defined by vessels observed at Tell Timai from contexts dating from the second half of the 1st century CE through the 2nd century CE (and possibly later). The ware includes a range of table, utilitarian, and cooking vessels.
The petro-fabric is likely local Nile Silt. The clay body and surfaces contains rare small elongated voids, likely from small bits of chaff. Mineral inclusions include small rounded bits of lime and occasional medium to medium-large lumps of lime that commonly rupture surfaces. Some gold mica scattered throughout. Sections are typically fired red (2.5YR 4/6) with thicker sections fired light gray. Surfaces are typically left plain and generally fired red (10R 4/6).
