Tall el-Hammam is an archaeological site in Jordan with an unbroken occupation from the Chalcolithic into the Middle Bronze age. Tall el-Hammam (TeH) also contains remains that date to the Iron Age, Hellenistic, Early Roman, Byzantine, and Early Muslim periods. The site exhibits a 700-year gap in remains between the MBA and IA. TeH contains an Upper Tall which is about 30-35 m above the Lower Tall; the Lower Tall is about 30-35 m above the surrounding terrain. The overall footprint of TeH (upper and lower talls) is about 36 ha (90 acres). TeH is located approximately 11.7 km East of the Jordan River, 12.6 km NE of the of Dead Sea, and 1 km south of today's Kafrayn/Kafrein Dam. On a clear day looking west, Jericho can be seen nestled at the base of the hills on the opposite side of the Jordan valley. TeH was surrounded on the E, SE, and S hills by a large dolmen/megalith burial field. Despite significant development, some of those dolmens/megaliths remain.
