The matrix is ferruginous calcareous clay with small quantities of silt-size quartz and carbonate relicts. The clay minerals of the matrix had changed their optical properties due to the firing (firing temperature was estimated close to 750C). The non plastic inclusions are well sorted sub-rounded to rounded mostly quartz sand with rare plagioclase, chert and chalk balls, and constitutes about 12 percent of the sherd’s volume.
