"The petrographic analysis concluded that a calcareous, microfossil-rich clay was used for the production of the amphora. It was tempered with sand whose size ranges between the fine and moderate category. It contains limestone, serpentinite (sometimes with chrome spinel), quartz, marble, chert, gabbro, dolerite, volcanic (basalt) groundmass, pyroxene and brown amphibole (Figure 6A). It bears resemblance to the corresponding geological area in Cilicia (Moix & Beccaletto et al., 2011), but Cyprus can neither be excluded as a possible place of origin." (Nagy and Szakmany 2019: 220)
