Fabric is brown-green (PPL) and very highly fired and sintered, such that the clay structure appears decomposed. Small silt-sized ferruginous concretions appear throughout the slide. Some silt, ca. 5%, mainly composed of quartz. (m)c:f:v of (80)10:5:5.
Aplastic components are rounded to sub-angular, and somewhat poorly sorted, ranging from coarse (650 microns) to fine (180 microns) sand sized grains. Quartz, chert, and calcareous rock are frequent, fine-grained red rounded inclusions (glauconite?) are common, black opaques and nepheline are few. Some of the limestone is ringed with a dark red coating, perhaps from iron oxides.
