Description

Fabric is tan-brown (PPL) and calcareous, with ca. 7.5% silt-sized red minerals, likely ferruginous concretions (but possibly iddingsite), and black opaques.  Clay is vitrified and minerals have been altered by heat, indicating a high firing temperature. (m)c:f:v of (72.5)15:7.5:5. Aplastic inclusions are rounded to sub-angular, ranging from very coarse to fine sand-sized grains. The dominant inclusion is calcareous material, often ringed with reddish-brown iron staining, and calcite; pyroxenes are common; quartz and basalt are few; pillow lavas and chert are rare.
