A calcareous silty clay. The silt fraction constitutes about 3–10% of the matrix and consists mainly of angular quartz grains, accompanied by accessory minerals, such as hornblende, zircon, biotite and feldspars. A few ferruginous nodules are also present. The sand-sized non-plastic components (f:c ratio [62 μm]= ~95/90:5/10)1 include mainly wellsorted rounded to sub-rounded quartz grains of ~300 μm, fine calcareous particles, a few feldspar grains and some rare chert fragments.
