Background: An Italian archaeologist suggested Leukos was the fourth city of Strabo’s tetrapolis on Karpathos in 1923, a proposal which eventually resulted in a thorough survey of the area from 2008–2011 (Nelson et al 2015). The kiln at Leukos, however, was excavated in a separate project conducted by the 4th Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities in October 2012 (Christidou-Stylianou 2013).
Location: Southwest of the basilica, the kiln is roughly 10–15 m east of Liani Pounta Bay.
