Dr. Asil Yaman is an adjunct assistant professor in the College of Liberal Art and Sciences at Villanova University. He is also serving as consulting professor at the Mediterranean section of Penn Museum. He is a member of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). He has been excavating in the eastern Mediterranean since 2003, working on various field projects. He focuses on the material culture such as pottery, food culture, and trade relations between the Levant and Anatolia in late antiquity.

Asil is directing a sustainable project in SW Turkey named Future is in Tourism under the auspices of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and The Ministry of Culture of Turkey. Currently, he is investigating the archaeology of Carian Chersonese and he is the founder and the director of a new generation and multi-purposed scientific field project named Phoenix Archaeological Project (PAP) (www.phoenixprojesi.com) since 2021. Asil received research grants from various institutions like American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT) and Hellenic College, Mary Jaharis Institute for Byzantine Art, and Culture.

His teaching repertory includes courses such as 'Introduction to Archaeology', 'The Archaeology of Religion and Rituals', ‘Anatolian Archaeology’, ‘The war between the East and West in Archaeological and Historical perspectives’, and ‘Asia Minor in Late Antiquity’ at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
