Description

Matrix is rather ferruginous and silty, and contains angular quartz and silt size grains of minerals derived from basalt, i.e. plagioclase, olivine, iddingsite and augite. The silt-size quartz material within the soil may have aeolian origin because it is very fine and very well-sorted.
Tempered with 5-7 percent of crushed crystalline calcite, rhombic and angular grains, badly sorted, varying in size between 0.1 and 1.0 mm. In samples fired at 700-750ºC calcite crystals are milky.
